I have to admit that if an O/D conversion (with the original gearbox) is reliably possible that would be the option I would go for. This vehicle is sold as is and mileage exempt on clean clear title. Odometer currently reads 50,085 miles which are original according to previous owner. The car comes with the original owners manuals. Only 8,077 examples of the ES were built in its two model years. Overall this Volvo is an excellent testament to classic styling, build quality and diligent ownership, it would be a challenge to find a comparable model in this great of condition and originality. The dashboard appears to be mostly original all of the gauges are original, beautiful wood steering wheel as well as the radio and speakers, beautiful wood steering wheel and original Volvo shift knob. Remaining mostly original, the carpet, headliner and upholstery are in good condition and very presentable with some minor signs of use. The Light blue interior was a rare color selection for the light blue metallic exterior paint color, thus making this beautiful P1800ES even more uncommon. These Volvo’s were built to last, in fact, a Volvo 1800s still holds the record for the highest mileage in the same vehicle with over 3 million miles in 2013! This car also sports 4 brand new tires with less then 200 miles on them. In addition, the 1970 model was the first 1800 with four-wheel disc brakes. Stopping is handled by power assisted disc brakes. The addition of the overdrive is vital for effortless highway speed cruising. Mated to the B20F fuel injected engine is an extremely rare M41 4-speed manual transmission with a Laycock overdrive. The ES engine produced 125 bhp by reducing the compression ratio with a thicker head gasket, although maximum power was slightly down, the engine was less “peaky” and the car’s on-the-road performance was actually improved. Both paint and body are in fantastic condition showing only minor imperfections.
